How many times can you reuse false eyelashes? The ultimate guide to care and cleaning
One of the most frequently asked questions at Olimbera is: "Are false eyelashes meant for single use?" The short answer is: No, absolutely not! If you invest in quality lashes and take good care of them, you can often wear them 15 to 20 times (or even more).
In this guide, we explain how to extend the lifespan of your favorite lashes with proper care and cleaning.
Why maintenance is so important
Every time you wear lashes, they collect residue from lash glue, eyeshadow, and natural oils from your skin. If you don't clean them, the lashes become stiff, lose their shape, and can even cause eye irritation. Good maintenance is not only good for your wallet but also for your hygiene!
Step 1: Gentle removal
Extending their lifespan begins with removal. Never pull hard on the lashes!
- Tip: Use a cotton swab with a little oil-free make-up remover and run it along the lash line to soften the glue. Then gently peel off the strip from the outer corner inwards.
Step 2: Remove glue residue
Once the lashes are off, you'll often see a rim of glue on the strip. Use tweezers to carefully pull off the dried glue.
- Please note: Hold the lashes firmly at the base (the strip) while removing the glue, so you don't damage the hairs.
Step 3: Cleaning (Without drowning them)
Never submerge your false eyelashes in water! This can ruin the curl and structure of the hairs.
- The right method: Place the lashes on a clean paper towel. Use a cotton swab with some micellar water to gently brush clean the hairs. This way you remove make-up residue without damaging the lash.
Step 4: Back in the packaging
The original packaging of your Olimbera lashes is not just for show. It's the perfect place to store them. The round shape of the holder ensures that the lash strip maintains its natural curve. Moreover, they stay dust-free this way.
Bonus Tip: No mascara on false eyelashes
Do you want your lashes to last a really long time? Then apply mascara to your own lashes first, let it dry, and then apply the false eyelashes. If you apply mascara directly to the false eyelashes, bacteria and product accumulate faster, causing them to need replacement sooner.
Time for a new set?
Even with the best care, there comes a time when your lashes need to be replaced. Do you notice that the hairs are falling out or the strip is losing its shape? Then it's time for a fresh pair!
