How to remove eyelash glue like a pro: Tips for clean and long-lasting lashes
You've enjoyed wearing your favorite Olimbera lashes all day, but when you remove them, you already see it: a build-up of sticky glue residue on the lash band. It's tempting to quickly pull the glue off, but be careful! If you do this too roughly, you'll pull the hairs out of the strip and you'll have to throw the lashes away.
In this blog, we'll explain step-by-step how to safely remove lash glue, so your lashes look brand new for the next round.
1. Patience is your best friend
Never try to remove the glue immediately after taking the lashes off your eye. The glue is often still too elastic then. Wait a few minutes or only start cleaning after you've cleaned the rest of your face.
2. Use tweezers for precision
This is the most effective method for removing the 'strands of glue'.
- The technique: Hold the lash band firmly between your fingers (don't grab the hairs, only the band!). Use clean tweezers to grasp the end of the glue residue and gently pull it off in one smooth motion. You'll often see the glue detach like a thin rubbery thread.
3. Stubborn residue? Use micellar water
Sometimes the glue is a bit stronger or there's some eyeliner mixed in.
- The solution: Dip a cotton swab in oil-free micellar water. Gently run it along the lash band. This loosens the glue without getting the entire lash wet. Note: never use oil-containing products, as the glue will no longer adhere to the band next time!
4. The finishing touch: Alcohol (Optional)
For ultimate hygiene, you can use a cotton swab with a small amount of 70% alcohol to clean the band. This kills any bacteria. However, do this very carefully and avoid touching the lash hairs as much as possible to prevent drying out.
5. Back in shape
After the glue is completely removed, place the lashes back in their original packaging. If you put them loosely in a box, the band can straighten, making application much more difficult next time.
Invest in quality that lasts
Low-quality lashes often break after one cleaning. At Olimbera, we choose materials that are sturdy enough to be cleaned and worn repeatedly. This way, you'll enjoy your investment longer!
