Removing eye makeup without damaging your false lashes: The best tips

You've been shining all day (or night) with your Olimbera false eyelashes, but now it's time to give your face a break. Removing eye makeup while wearing false eyelashes can seem like a tricky task. Do it too roughly? You'll damage the lashes. Use the wrong product? You won't be able to reuse them.

No worries! With these tips, you'll keep both your natural lashes and your favorite false eyelashes in top condition.

1. Choose the right remover (Oil-free is key!)

This is the most important rule: always use an oil-free makeup remover. Oils are fantastic for removing waterproof mascara, but they are the enemy of false eyelashes. Oil dissolves the lash glue and can affect the structure of the false lash, causing it to fall apart faster.

  • Our tip: Use water-based micellar water. This is effective and safe for your lashes.

2. The "Soak Method"

Rubbing is forbidden! Hard rubbing on your eyes causes broken natural lashes and deformed false lashes.

  • The technique: Soak a cotton pad with oil-free remover and gently press it against your closed eyelid. Hold it for about 30 seconds. This gives the remover time to soften the eyeshadow and eyeliner without you having to apply force.

3. Remove the false lash first

Don't try to clean all your eye makeup while your false lashes are still in place.

  • Step-by-step plan: Once the glue has softened a bit from "soaking," carefully peel off the false lash (as we explained in our previous blogs). Place it on a clean, dry spot and only then proceed with thoroughly cleaning your eyelids.

4. Use cotton swabs for precision

Sometimes a stubborn edge of eyeliner or glue remains between your natural lash hairs.

  • The solution: Dip a cotton swab in micellar water and carefully run it along your lash line. This gives you much more control than a large cotton pad and prevents you from unnecessarily pulling at your skin.

5. Rinse and dry

After all the makeup is gone, you can wash your face as usual. Then gently pat your eyes dry with a soft towel. Avoid fluffy towels that can get caught in your natural lash hairs.
